Eion Scarrow’s Guide to Gardening in New Zealand
This colourful book is an attempt at presenting a very wide range of gardeing information in a manner which is both visually attractive and easily understood.
All the main categories of home gardening are adequately covered, plus some more recently developed practices which are included for the interest of readers wishing to experiment.
It is the authors’ contention that home gardening should be a most enjoyable pastime, as indeed it is if the individual knows just what to do. This book gives sound, proven instruction on how to cultivate most plant types likely to be of interest to the New Zealand home gardener.
Particularly useful are the many special sequences of illustrations giving step-by-step coverage of important techniques for propagating, pruning, grafting etc.
The authors concede that there are often many different ways of approaching gardening problems in order to achieve a desired result, and no special claim is made that advice offered within this book should be the only course to follow. their experience suggest that simplicity tends to under-pin most gardening success stories, but readers are encouraged to modify or build on any particular techniques adapted from these chapters, in order to suit their own special circumstances.
