Hints and Tips for New Zealand Gardeners

Nicholas Scott

Nicholas Scott has been writing weekly garden pages since 1960 and now syndicates them to a dozen daily newspapers throughout this country  In 1985 he co-authored The Complete Books of Gardening for New Zealand with RTM Pescott, published by Curry O’Neil of Melbourne, a large hardback, profusely illustrated in full colour throughout.  It sold out and is now out of print.

Three years ago he started a Saturday morning talk-back phone-in garden queries session on the local radio station dealing with an average of nine calls in each 20 minute session every week.  He has now found it it drawing letters, as his newspaper columns do, from listeners who fail to get through to 2ZA as the phone lines are all full.

There have been many requests for a reprint of his gardening book.  Unfortunately this is out of his hands, the responsibility of the publishers.  But there have also been many calls for the hints and tips he gives in his weekly newspaper columns or over the radio to be complied in one handy volume.  Several people told him they have never seen or heard of them anywhere else.

This publication is in response to that demand.
